Manicure

Manicures are one of the easiest ways to pamper yourself. They’re affordable, quick, and a great way to try out trendy or edgy looks without needing to commit to a dye job or drastic cut. But if you’ve never gotten one before, you might have a few questions about what to expect and whether it’s really worth it anyway. And if you’re a total newbie, you might even be wondering just what is a manicure anyway? Let’s start there.

What is a manicure?
A manicure is the buffing and shaping of the fingernails and typically includes a fresh coat of nail polish. Aestheticians will push back and trim the cuticles while buffing down any ridges leaving nails looking glossy and sleek even before the color is added. But that doesn’t mean all manicures are created equal. A shellac manicure will last much longer than a standard one and a paraffin wax manicure will leave you with softer, healthier skin.

How long does a manicure last?
A standard manicure will last anywhere from three days to a full week, depending on how well you take care of it and how often you work with your hands. UV gel manicure on the other hand can last up to two weeks.

Pedicure

What Is A Pedicure & What Does A Pedicure Feel Like?

Thinking about getting your first pedicure? Here’s all you need to know about what a classic pedicure entails and what to expect from a pedicure appointment.

What Is A Pedicure?
A pedicure is a cosmetic treatment of the feet and toenails. There are many types of pedicures that range in method, but a classic or regular pedicure generally takes place in a nail salon rather than a spa. As the customer, you will sit in a comfortable chair and likely receive the following:

  • A warm foot soak to help soften and relax the skin and toenails
  • A foot scrub to remove calluses and flaky, dry foot skin — usually done with a pumice stone, foot file or other tool
  • Moisturizer applied via a short foot and lower leg massage
  • A careful trim and file of the toenails
  • A nail cuticle treatment that includes the cuticles being pushed back and the application of nourishing cuticle oil
  • Optional: The application of a basecoat polish, toenail polish and top coat polish, followed by a quick session under a nail dryer

Classic pedicures typically last between 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the condition of your feet and whether or not you choose polish application.
